AΔA [ada: art design architecture] as an idea and a group, arises from the permeation of the essence of camping experience at Ada Bojana and the idea of engaging and intertwining art, design and architecture as a cultural - social - spatial need, through the experimental action of O:TVORENO concept - project - initiative.
O:TVORENO, as Altruistic Activist Architecture, is based on self-initiated action of architects, the inclusion and participation of the local population in the educational processes of design and construction, as well as in the engagement of individuals of wide multi-media spectrum in interdisciplinary, design-social projects in (mainly abandoned, neglected, unused, misused or abused) public spaces. The work methodology ranges from individual, well-thought-out (guerilla or by call) actions in public spaces to collaborative interactions with citizens of all age groups on site-specific projects, i.e. spatial interventions, through two phases in particular:
01 OPENING THE SPACE
02 CREATING THE PLACE
1) Opening the Space, based on cognitive-research work through learning, drawing and planning where participants explore the potential of a particular public space through their own ideas and intervention suggestions, using cognitive-interactive sheets, maps and workbooks.
2) Creating the Place, based on collaborative practical actions through construction and applied design where participants create a place in a particular space, building on the current context.
ADDITIONAL THEME
REUSE RECYCLE REMIX READYMADE
THE SWING
The important parts of overall O:TVORENO methodology are three characteristics:
A) Additional Theme. In architectural terms that is a contextualisation of specific project through phase 1 and phase 2. In terms of working with participants, it is an additional education. Thus, it is always architecture + something else (micro-urban planning, ornithology, botany, typologies, etc).
B) Reuse, Recycle, Remix and Readymade. This reuse of materials and occasionally incorporation of "primary non-architectural" elements ephasizes creative thinking, recycling importance and design playfullness and sustainability in our participative work.
C) The Swing Effect as a leitmotif - a symbol of O:TVORENO concept, represents a simple carefree element of playing in the function of celebrating children, youth and the playing itself. On the other hand, as a ready-made element, the swing becomes an instrument for mapping the (problem of) space, that is, the (potential of) place, inviting the participants to dialogue.
We open the space, create the place.
